So y’all have probably wondered where I have been. This summer has been crazy packed with events and traveling, and blogging has not been my main priority. On top of having a ton of events going on at work, I’ve also had jamb packed weekends. I am actually pretty sure I had something going on every weekend this summer. Even though being busy was the main excuse, it was so nice though to take a break and not worry about what I was going to post on Instagram (blogger struggles). It was so nice to just unplug and enjoy the moments with my family and friends. Now that things are slowing down, I am excited to hop more into blogging.
So you’re probably wondering, “what did you do this summer?”
I’ve been spending time with friends
I’ve been able to spend a lot of time with my two best friends from high school, Lauren and Morgan. Morgan is getting married next month, so we have had a lot of festivities to celebrate her. Lauren also got a new puppy named Halpert so I obviously had to visit him (if you didn’t know, I am obsessed with dogs). It has been so great to see these two so much this summer because I feel like we don’t get to see each other enough now that I live two hours away.
I have also been spending a lot of time with Amanda and Anna. I met Amanda a year ago in July and it feels like we have been friends forever. She has been such a great friend to me and I am so happy blogging brought us together. I also met Anna through blogging and have enjoyed getting to know her this summer. Isn’t it crazy how some of your greatest friends can come from the Internet?
I went to the lake
Every year, my grandma rents a condo at Lake Erie so my family can spend time together. This year she rented it over the Fourth of July week, so I took a few days of work and spent five days at the lake with her and my family. My grandma is in her 90s so I take every opportunity I have to spend time with her. She used to love swimming and enjoys being in the sun (she is a bronzed sun goddess) so going to the lake is one of her favorite things to do. My cousin Brooke and I also went fishing with my uncle and I actually caught a few perch this time (I am usually not very lucky, HA)!
I went to a TON of concerts
I actually went to four concerts within a month of each other. Corey and I went to see Weezer at the beginning of July. It was so fun to see them in concert because they are a classic alternative band I listened to growing up. They put on a really good show! Not even a week later, I saw Zac Brown Band in Detroit with my mom and dad. I got the tickets for my mom for her 60th birthday because she has always wanted to see them (and so have I!). I knew my dad would also like the music and he came along. It was so fun to go to a concert with my parents (isn’t it funny how you enjoy doing things with your parents the older you get? See my post 25 Things I Have Learned in 25 Years). Zac Brown Band was definitely my favorite concert of the summer. THEY ARE FANTASTIC!
Corey and I went to two other concerts this summer: Foo Fighters and Maroon 5. The Foo Fighters are probably one of Corey’s favorite bands and I tagged along. I knew some of their music and after seeing them, I definitely want to listen to more of their music. They put on a great concert! Last but not least, we saw Maroon 5 at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Concert for Legends. The Maroon 5 concert was the finally of the big enshrinement weekend here in Canton. I was a little disappointed by the upbeat version of She Will Be Loved Adam Levine sang, but overall it was a good concert!
For the last two years I lived in Canton, I lived in a one-bedroom, decent priced, but outdated apartment. It was actually a pretty great apartment when I lived there for the first year by myself. But just a few months after renewing my lease for another year, Corey moved to Canton and moved in with me. The apartment definitely was not big enough for the two of us and not having a dishwasher was becoming a problem (we both hate dishes lol). This spring we knew my lease would be ending over the summer, so we started apartment hunting and found the perfect apartment for the two of us. We have been here for a little over three weeks now and it is so nice just to have more space and amenities that we didn’t have before.
We celebrated Morgan’s final days as a “single” woman
As I mentioned above, my best friend Morgan is getting married next month. Morgan and I have been best friends since she moved here in the seventh grade so I am super excited to be a part of her special day. Morgan’s bride tribe went up to the Madison/Geneva, Ohio area, which is basically Ohio’s wine country, to celebrate her bachelorette party. We had a great time drinking wine, talking about life, and eating way too much food.
I went to the Smoky Mountains
Back in 2015, my mom’s side of the family took a trip to Sevierville, Tennessee. Unfortunately, a few weeks after our trip, my grandpa passed away. This year, my mom, aunt, grandma, and I took a girls trip back to the Smoky Mountains. My grandma really enjoys old country music and nature so it was the perfect place to take her. I am going to do a Tennessee travel guide post soon so stay tuned for more information about what we did!
I announced my collaboration with Jennah Lear
Earlier this summer, I announced I was restarting my photography business after I did a creative photoshoot for bloggers. I also happened to meet Jennah Lear from Blue Loui Studio. A month or so later, Jennah approached me about collaborating with her to create a branding package including my photography. Last week I announced the collaboration on my photography Facebook page. I am so excited for this opportunity and the future opportunities for my business. I am currently building a website for my business and have some other fun plans for this fall, so stay tuned for more information about that.
Well, that’s all! Thanks for stopping by today and catching up with me!
