Basic Winter Essentials Every Woman Needs

Basic Winter Essentials

Blogmas day thirteen is here and today I am bringing you my list of basic winter essentials every girl needs to have this winter! I created this list based on fashion pieces I think are essentials during the winter. From a cute beanie on your head to cozy socks on your toes, and everything in between, there are simple, yet fashionable and essential pieces that you can wear all winter long! Here is my list:

A warm down coat

A puffy down coat is the number one winter essential every girl needs in their closet (at least if you live in the North like me). There is no way you will get cold wearing one of these coats in the winter time. I highly suggest you get a nice winter coat if you are a college student and will be outside a lot in the winter time. My cozy Calvin Kline coat (similar here) kept me warm during my college years in the frozen tundra (BGSU is so flat and windy in the winter it is basically the frozen tundra lol) and I still wear it on cold winter days as an adult!

Duck boots

Whether they are Bean boots, Sperry boots, Sorel boots, or some other brand of boots, duck boots are a winter essential because you can wear them in any type of winter weather (snow or rain). They are better than any other type of winter boot because they keep your feet warm and dry! My personal favorites are the Sperry boots! I love the way they fit and they are so easy to break in. I like to wear mine with comfy cabin socks that stick out of the top. And they are perfect for fall and winter so they are definitely worth the investment. This is my third winter with these boots and they are still holding up great even though I wore them on campus almost every day the last two years!

Warm and cozy sweaters

I wear sweaters almost every day during the winter! I love sweaters because they are so comfortable, but so fashionable and you can wear them in so many different ways. I am also that person that is cold all the time so I need to wear something that is going to keep me warm throughout the day.

A beanie hat

A beanie hat is the perfect accessory to any winter outfit! You can just wear one outside with your winter coat, or you can pair it with a cute sweater. There are so many ways you can wear beanies and they come in many different styles. My personally favorite is a white/ivory beanie with a brown pom-pom on the top!

Thick socks

Nothing is worse in the winter time than cold feet! So warm your feet up this winter with a pair of thick, cozy socks. I particularly like American Eagle’s socks because they are super soft and warm! Hollister also has some pretty nice socks. I love wearing these socks anytime I am just lounging around or with my Sperry boots or riding boots.

Ponchos

I recently scored a super cute poncho at Tj Maxx and I can’t wait to style it for you all! Ponchos have become very popular this year and it is probably because they are so comfortable, but trendy! You can pair a poncho with a comfy long sleeve tee, jeans, and boots for the perfect winter look.

Yessss, I love ponchos! The only thing that is hard with that is wearing a coat over it can be awkward, lol . But still worth it! And I have this black down coat that goes over my knees i have to get the zipper fixed and I feel lost without it. Great guide!

Yes, it’s a pain to wear them with coats. Typically if I wear one I just skip the coat haha. Unless it’s super cold out.
Those parka coats are also a blessing! Thanks for stopping by 😊

My Northface and Sperry boots are a must for winters in New England. I need to get some more thick socks for this winter.
