What I Love About Christmas

What I Love About Christmas
Happy Monday! It’s blogmas day 12 (we are half way there!), which means Christmas is less than two weeks away! As we get older, it seems like most people don’t like Christmas as much as they did as a kid. But today, I am sharing the reasons I love Christmas.

Spending time with family

My absolute favorite thing about the holiday season is spending time with my friends and family. In past years, it was always nice to go home and spend time with my family after a stressful finals week. Now that I live two hours away from home, I am so excited to go home and just relax for the week (I took off the week between Christmas and New Year’s). Family means so much to me and I am very close to my cousins, which makes it that much better! Most of us are all grown up and live all over the state, so it is nice to get together.

Taking a break from the real world

Christmas is one of that rare couple of days when you’re able to forget everything. While I can’t completely forget everything because I manage the social media for my company, it is nice to just enjoy the time I have off and be together with my family and Corey. You don’t have to worry about doing anything or being anywhere and it is a little vacation. It’s so refreshing and having a break sure does make you feel more prepared for the days after the holidays.

Gifts

While I don’t think Christmas is about the gifts, I still enjoy giving and receiving them! I love giving gifts to my friends and family, especially if it is something they have really been wanting! It also gives me the chance to ask for something I have really been wanting, whether it is clothes, makeup, or techy gear.

Christmas lights and pretty decorations

I love decorating for Christmas! From Christmas lights/fairy lights to decorative pillows, I love making my entire living space festive for the season!

The smell of Christmas

In my Favorite Holiday Scents and Candles post, I shared my favorite scents of the season. Holiday scents are the best scents and are honestly my favorite all year round!

Listening to Christmas music

I am that person that refuses to listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving (I actually don’t like anything Christmas before Thanksgiving), but once Thanksgiving is over, I get into the Christmas spirit and enjoy the music. My favorite Christmas music happens to be Michael Buble!

24 hours of A Christmas Story

A Christmas Story is my all-time favorite Christmas movie ever! And better yet, on Christmas, it is on for 24 hours straight! That’s right, you can watch A Christmas Story as many times as you want from 8 p.m. on Christmas eve to 8 p.m. on Christmas day on TBS (obviously, I don’t watch the entire 24 hours, but I do watch it about two or three times throughout the day lol).

I have learned to love Christmas

After my grandfather passed away in 2006, I don’t think Christmas was ever really the same. It also started getting harder to get together with the extended family, as my cousins were having kids of their own. However, as I am getting older, I am starting to love and appreciate Christmas even more than I did as a kid for all of the reasons I have listed above!

Great list! I really love the chill day, starting with breakfast, talking to family on the phone and then giving out gifts (I love watching people open gifts!). It’s a beautiful time in NYC so I love all the decorations too!

These are some of my favorite reasons I love Christmas too, such as decorating and looking at the Christmas lights, spending time with family, holiday scents and giving gifts. In addition to those I love attending church services, singing Christmas carols, plays, holiday drink specials/recipes and Christmas shopping.

I love all of those things too! Our Christmas mass and music is so beautiful! Our music director recently passed away though, so it will be a lot different this year without him :\
