Christmas has come and gone, and it’s pretty safe to say I completely botched blogmas (oops). Between work, shopping, and getting ready for the holidays (and being lazy), blogmas just moved to the bottom of my priority list. As soon as I went home to spend “Christmas” with my family on December 16, I was checked out of the blogging world and completely focused on family. But with the new year here, I would like to dedicate more time to actually blogging, create a consistent schedule, and post more often (and actually stick to it!). I thought it was only appropriate I write a post reflecting on 2016 and about my goals for this year.
Reflecting on 2016
Over the last week, I have seen many people talking about how 2016 was such an awful year. Yes, a lot of weird things happened in 2016, but I can’t say it was that bad of a year. I found my passion in public relations, graduated from college, landed my first big girl job doing what I love, and moved to a new city. I also found out I will be an aunt, which is something I am looking forward to in 2017! Sure 2016 had some negatives, but those aren’t the things I think about when I think of 2016.
Something I really wanted to do in 2016 was launch my own blog/website. And I DID! I finally came around and launched my lifestyle and fashion blog, Kasually Katie. After launching my blog in November, I got busy and wrote tons of posts for the upcoming holiday season. I’ve probably blogged more in the last two months than I have in the last two years (even though I botched blogmas), which is something I have been wanting to do for a while. I am so excited for the new year because I have so many ideas planned for my blog, and I cannot wait to share my posts with my readers and continue to improve my blog every day!
One thing that disappointed me in 2016 is I didn’t stick to my fitness goals. Last year I wrote a blog post about my 2016 new year resolutions and my only goal was to get back in shape. Did that happen? No. And what’s even more disappointing is I actually gained weight in the last year. As usual, I have been skipping the gym on days I had plenty of time to go or because I was “too tired.” I started a job where I sit on my butt all day instead of running around like a chicken with its head cut off (serving). I stress-ate through my final semester of college. In no way am I making excuses for myself, but these are all things that I feel have contributed to my unhealthy habits that I need to break. I want to finally make this the year I am happy with myself and how I physically feel. I want to be fit, healthy, and confident!
Goals for 2017
- Start BBG and/or a workout routine
- Go to the gym at least 3 times a week after work
- Aside from teaching weekly skating lessons, skate twice a month for myself
- Eat well and eat less junk, no stress eating
- Be productive and don’t procrastinate
- Publish at least one blog post per week
- Plan ahead with my new Passion Planner
