On April 5, 2014 I will be participating in an event called ZiggyThon, which is the 32-hour event Bowling Green State University Dance Marathon holds every spring to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network. In the past, BGSU Dance Marathon has raised over $3 million dollars for Mercy Children’s Hospital, which is the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in Toledo, OH.
At the ZiggyThon event I will be required to dance and stand for 32-hours straight for the children who cannot. One of those children is Isaac, who is my personal miracle child. Isaac is only 4 years old and has Pre-B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, which is a cancer of the white blood cells. He will be taking chemotherapy treatments through the end of April 2014. When he is not at the hospital taking treatments he likes to ride his tricycle and four-wheeler, and watch Scooby-doo.
Before the event I need to fundraise for Isaac and other kids with life threatening illnesses. My goal is to raise $1000 for the Mercy Children’s Hospital. Although I do not understand the struggles these children are facing, I am very passionate about helping them in any way I can. It will be tough not being able to sit down for 32 hours, but in the end I know it will be worth it.
With 11 days until the event I have raised $740, which is 74% of my goal. My goal to raise $1000 is pretty ambitious since it is my first year doing the event. I am already so proud of myself for raising what I have, but it would mean everything to me if I could raise my goal of $1000. I am so passionate about this cause and am so excited to be participating in the event.
