Recently, I was challenged to do a “Blogger Q&A” by my friend Victoria from For What It’s Werth. I know I haven’t been the best at blogging lately (and it’s something I am working on), but I was excited to do this post and share my inspiration with ya’ll.
Why did you start a blog?
I started my blog three years ago during my junior year of college. I started it just to write because it’s something I have always loved to do. I was no longer working at the campus newspaper and I wanted to write about my personal experiences, share recipes, and other tutorials (you can view some of my OG posts here). I never imagined that I would start blogging about fashion and beauty because it wasn’t really something I was interested in at the time. As I have grown and matured over the last few years, fashion and makeup is something I have really grown to love. It is definitely something I want to start posting more on Kasually Katie.
Where do you get your writing inspiration from?
As I said, I have always loved writing so when I started blogging I was inspired by things in my everyday life: school, my friends, my family, my experiences. As I started reading others’ blogs and watching YouTube, I started to really enjoy fashion and beauty, and that is when my creative juices really started flowing. Some of my favorite bloggers and Youtubers are Jeanine Amapola
, Fashionably Kay
, Alisha Marie
, Caitlin Bea
, Danielle Caroline
, and Daryl-Ann
. I have never been one that enjoys speaking in front of a camera, so I knew YouTube wasn’t really for me. I find inspiration in all of these great women! My blog is all about trying new things and incorporating my favorites pieces into everyday looks for the perfect casual and budget-friendly style (I am all about comfort and those sales lol).
What words do you have for those who are scared to start their blog?
Just do it! You don’t have to pay money to start a blog. Just sign up with WordPress.com or Blogger and start writing about whatever you are passionate for (I originally had a wordpress.com blog when I first started out). Also, don’t start blogging for the wrong reasons, such as the money. While it’s great to make money from blogging, it’s honestly hard to get to that point if you aren’t dedicated to your blog. I am still trying to get to that point where I can monetize my blog and do sponsored posts. If you are genuinely interested in keeping up with your blog and sharing your thoughts and ideas, then do it! 🙂
What are the ups and downs of having your own blog?
The ups: It gives you a creative outlet to share your passion.
The downs: It’s hard to balance working full time, working out, having a social life and keeping up with posting. It is also hard when you don’t have someone to help you take fashion photos.
What other interests do you have besides your blog?
I’m an avid coffee drinker and foody. I love eating out and trying new places (a blessing and a curse) with my friends. I love the people in my life and spending time with my friends and family. I also teach figure skating lessons in my spare time, and I also recently have gotten into working out (I work out 4-5 times a week now!). You can read more about me here
Where do you hope your blog will take you into the future?
I am hoping that I can learn to manage my time more and spend time on my blog. Working a full-time job, working out, teaching lessons and having a social life can be time-consuming and exhausting, leaving little time to blog. I really just need to schedule time on the weekends (like now) where I just sit down and write. It’s all about how you manage your time and don’t procrastinate!
Who are you inspired by?
My blogger friends I am tagging to complete this Q&A:
These ladies are also so inspirational and I love that I have been able to get to know them because of blogging!
I’ve provided the questions for you so that you can paste them to your own blog (without my answers, of course). I’d love to hear your stories too from this Q&A. Tag some of your blogger friends in your posts and let’s get this train rolling!
