21 Random Facts About Me

May 30, 2017

Happy Tuesday, friends! I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend and took the time to reflect on why we had a long weekend. Today, I wanted to take the time to tell y’all a little more about me. I started blogging over three years ago and while I have shared some things about me in posts, I don’t think I have really gotten into the details of my interests and life outside of blogging. So with that being said, here are 21 random facts about me…

Top // Bottoms // Necklace // Shoes

I have been figure skating for 17 years

I started skating in Learn to Skate when I was seven and joined my figure skating club when I was nine. I continued skating in college for my university’s club team for five years and now I teach Learn to Skate lessons at my local ice arena.

I won national awards for my high school newspaper sports photography

In high school, I was on my school newspaper for three years. My senior year I was the photo editor and web manager. Every year we traveled to different NSPA/JEA conventions where I won several awards for my sports photography.

I have never traveled outside of the U.S.

I have been to many places in the United States, but I have never traveled outside of the country. I am hoping to visit Toronto next year to visit a friend and see other parts of the world.

I didn’t join my sorority, Kappa Delta until I was a junior

I didn’t know much about Greek life as a freshman and was too busy with my journalism internship my sophomore year. By the time I was a junior I knew I was going to go a fifth year, so I decided it was the perfect time to finally go Greek. I spent three years in my sorority and met some of my greatest friends. I know Greek life isn’t for everyone, but I think everyone should at least give it a chance and look into it before making assumptions!

I was born with one pupil bigger than the other

It’s called anisocoria. Most of the time you can’t really tell unless you closely look at my eyes.

I have had eight teeth pulled

Before I had braces, I had four adult teeth pulled because I didn’t have enough room in my mouth. I also had four wisdom teeth cut out when I was a senior.

I played the flute and I was in bell choir

I started playing the flute in fifth grade and continued playing in the band through eighth grade. I also was in my school’s bell choir in eighth grade.

I hate white pants on myself

The white skinnies I am wearing in this post are actually the first pair of white skinny jeans/pants I have ever really liked on myself. I have never really liked white pants because I don’t like the way they make my knees look.

I didn’t have a passion for fashion or makeup until a few years ago

My senior year of college I started watching Youtube videos and that is when I discovered my passion for makeup and fashion. I am no professional makeup artist or blogger, but I love going to Sephora and Ulta and buying new products and trying new looks. you can see what is in my makeup bag here.

I can touch my tongue to the tip of my nose

You read that right! I can touch my tongue to the tip of my nose.

I graduated with a degree in education but pursued a career in public relations and marketing, which was my minor

My senior year I was in the classroom for my methods placement and decided teaching wasn’t for me. I already had more than I minor in journalism so I pursued a career in PR/marketing instead. I can definitely say that I made the right choice and I love what I do now!

I am a Tau Kappa Epsilon sweetheart and lavaliered into TKE

As a junior, I got very close to the men in Tau Kappa Epsilon at my school. My boyfriend was a TKE, which allowed me to spend time and get to know many of the guys. My senior year, I was elected their chapter sweetheart and at the end of the year, my boyfriend lavaliered me before his graduation. TKE is something that will always be a part of me and I am excited to be going to their convention in New Orleans later this summer!

My favorite foods are pickles and ice cream

But not together (lol)!

I enjoy watching baseball

I guess I get this from my dad! My dad and brother both played baseball growing up and I spent a lot of time at baseball games. I am also a huge Detroit Tigers fan. It is really the only professional sport I care for and follow every day.

I’ve biked 360 miles across the state of Ohio

During my time at BGSU, I was involved in Dance Marathon. One year I danced for 32 hours straight, and for two years I biked across the state of Ohio! Each trip was 180 miles and I biked with 150 other students. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had and I raised more than $3,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network.

I can’t stand the sound of chewing

I am one of those people… If you chew loud or make any type of sound with your food while eating I get super irritated and upset. I try really hard to ignore it or hide that it is bothering me.

I lived in the same house my entire life

From the time I was born, until I moved out after graduation, I lived in the same house my entire life. Our 95-year-old house will always be my home.

When I was little I wanted to be a veterinarian

I wanted to be a veterinarian until I was about 14-years-old. On my 14th birthday we found out our family dog had cancer and I no longer wanted to be a vet because I didn’t want to go through that with other people’s pets.

My favorite number is 17

I am not sure why I chose the number 17, but it is my favorite number. My dad had the number 17 when he played sports and one of my good friends in high school was also 17 on the hockey team.

I can’t use the end of the toilet paper in a public restroom

When I am in a public restroom I have to rip off the piece of paper on the end and throw it away. Something about it being on the end and other people touching it freaks me out.

I’ve been in a long distance relationship for two years

After my boyfriend graduated in 2015 (he actually graduated on time ha), he moved back home to Chicago and we were long distance for my last year of school. Last year, we both accepted jobs around the same time and once again we were going to be long distance. Five hours apart is hard, but it’s worth it!

Props to you for making long distance work! I can completely understand how hard and lonely it can get sometimes. And I had I think 6 teeth pulled as a kid for the same reason, not my best moment. But at least my mom spoiled me for a while!

    • Kasually Katie June 8, 2017 at 10:54 pm

It is hard, but it is worth it! Hopefully, we won’t be long distance much longer 🙂

Getting teeth pulled stinks, but now I don’t even know the difference.

  • Lanae Bond June 8, 2017 at 5:11 pm
