Summer is the time to catch up with friends and have fun. But sometimes fun comes at a price you don’t want to pay. Here is my list of fun things you can do this summer that is FREE.
1. Have a photoshoot with your friends
Since I was in high school this has been one of my favorite things to do with my friends. Explore your city with your friends to find cool places to take pictures. You don’t have to have a fancy camera to do this!
2. Go for a hike or bike ride
Get out and breath in some fresh air! Find a bike or hiking trail in your area to get some free exercise.
3. Have a game night
TBT to the days when you played board games with your friends and family. Put away your cellphones and break out the board games to have a fun night. My personal favorites are the Game of Life, Apples to Apples, and Cards Against Humanity.
4. Have a movie marathon and sleepover
Have your friends gather some of their favorite DVDs and have a movie marathon at one of your houses. My personal movie marathon favorites is watching the Harry Potter series.
5. Check out books from your local library
Complete your summer reading list by signing up for a membership at your local library. Most public libraries are free (unless you return your books late) and most libraries also have more than books! My local library also has CDs, movies, TV series and more to check out.
6. Look up free events in your community
Log onto your city or town’s website (or nearby cities) to find a list of events going on in your community. You may be surprised about fun and free activities are going on in your community. This is also a great way to get out and meet more people from your area.
7. Have a potluck picnic with your friends
Go through your kitchen to find any items to make a dish. Have your friends do the same, then get together for a potluck picnic prepared from only these ingredients and whatever else you have on hand. Making a dish based on what you already have is free, and it would be fun to see what creative dishes you and your friends come up with.
8. Start a blog on a topic that interest you
You don’t have to have any money to start a blog and write about the things that interest you! I use WordPress.com to write on my blog and it is completely free unless you chose to get a premium account. But it is not something you have to do. You can also use sites like Blogger or Tumblr to create a blog.
9. Workout from home
You don’t have to pay big bucks to join a gym. Instead, watch workout videos on Youtube and follow along. My favorite workouts to do is yoga and lifting weights. I have found several videos to help guide me through my workouts.
10. Play a game of your favorite sport
When is the last time you went outside and kicked a soccer ball around or played catch with your dad or sibling? This is another way to get outside for some fresh air and get exercise playing your favorite sport.
